The 5 Best Roofing Companies in Austin, TX (2026 Guide)
The short answer
The five best roofing companies in Austin for 2026 are Ark Roofer, Kidd Roofing, KangaRoof, Good News Roofing & Solar and Wilson Roofing. We ranked on BBB complaint records first, then verified review counts, manufacturer tier, scope and years in business. Every number was checked on September 24, 2026.
Three years ago tonight, softball-size hail fell on Round Rock. Stones bigger than baseballs hit north Austin and Pflugerville. By the time the adjusters finished counting, losses ran as much as $300 million in Travis County and about the same again in Williamson County. KXAN still calls it the costliest hail storm this area has seen.
Then 2025 beat it for sheer frequency. Radar-based hail records logged 24 hail days over Austin that year, the most on record, with a 4-inch stone on May 29. And 2026 hasn’t been quiet either. Two-inch hail fell in late August, a month most people think of as roofing’s off-season.
Here is what happens after every one of those storms. Trucks with out-of-state plates start rolling through the neighborhood. Yard signs go up overnight. Someone knocks and offers to “take care of your deductible.” Depending on who is counting, somewhere between 470 and 1,300 roofing businesses list an Austin address. Texas doesn’t license a single one of them at the state level. So the sorting is on you.
That is the job of this guide. We pulled Better Business Bureau records, verified review counts on third-party sites, checked manufacturer certifications against the manufacturers’ own contractor pages, and looked at years in business and what each company actually does. Then we picked the five that hold up.
One thing before the list, because you would figure it out anyway. This is the Ark Roofer blog, and we put ourselves at number one. We also put four competitors on the list with their real numbers, including two that have more Google reviews than we do. Check our math. If another roofer on this page is the better fit for your house, call them. We would rather you hire a good roofer than a bad one, even when it isn’t us.
The five at a glance
Every number below was checked on September 24, 2026 against BBB, the manufacturer’s contractor directory, or a third-party review site. Google counts move weekly, so treat them as a snapshot, not scripture.
| Company | Based in | BBB record | Google reviews | Top credential |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ark Roofer | GeorgetownSince 2018 | A+, accredited 2019, 0 complaints | Owens Corning Platinum Preferred | |
| Kidd Roofing | AustinSince 1982 | A+, accredited 2007, 5 complaints | GAF Master Elite, President's Club | |
| KangaRoof | Round RockSince 2000 | A+, accredited 2024, 0 complaints | GAF Master Elite, President's Club | |
| Good News Roofing & Solar | KyleSince 2009 | A+, accredited 2010, 1 complaint | Atlas Diamond (per company) | |
| Wilson Roofing | West AustinSince 1976 | A+, accredited 1981, 1 complaint | GAF Master Elite, President's Club |
Checked September 24, 2026. BBB complaints use the three-year window.
Sources for the table: BBB profiles for Ark Roofer, Kidd Roofing, KangaRoof, Good News Roofing and Wilson Roofing. Google counts from Birdeye (Ark, Good News) and each company’s GAF contractor page (Kidd, KangaRoof, Wilson). Certifications from owenscorning.com and gaf.com.
How we ranked them
Five things, in this order.
- BBB record. Rating, accreditation, and the complaint count over the past three years. One complaint isn't a scandal. A pattern of them is. This is the one number a roofer can't buy or pad, so it carries the most weight.
- Reviews you can verify. We used third-party counts, not the number printed on a company's homepage. One Austin roofer with a perfect 5.0 and more than a thousand Google reviews didn't make this list, because it also carries 18 BBB complaints in three years. Volume matters. It just doesn't outrank a paper trail.
- Certification tier. GAF, Owens Corning and Atlas each have a top tier that only a small share of contractors reach. We checked every claim against the manufacturer's own directory. A logo on a website doesn't count.
- What they can actually do. Shingle, metal, tile, flat roofs, gutters, siding, insurance claim help. More scope means fewer contractors on your project and one name to call if something leaks.
- Years and roots. Time in business and a physical Central Texas office. Storm chasers have neither.
Anything we couldn’t verify, we left out. When a number comes only from a company’s own site, we say so.
Ark Roofer
That's usBest for: Insurance claims, whole-exterior jobs, and the north metro
Serves Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Leander, Liberty Hill, Dripping Springs, Lampasas and New Braunfels.
Luke Secora is a fourth-generation contractor whose dad, in Luke’s words, “did everything except for the roofs.” A friend pointed him at roofing. He spent about a year in sales for another company and didn’t like what he saw. Too much pressure, not enough explaining. So in 2018 he started Ark Roofer out of a 10-by-10 home office, and by the time four people were working in that room, he moved the company to its current spot on Highway 29. Today the team is more than 25, with, by its own count, more than 3,000 Central Texas homes behind it. Community Impact told the whole story in May 2026.
What earned the top spot is a combination no one else on this list has. Ark is an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor, the highest tier in that program, and won Owens Corning’s Top Performer MVP award in 2025. It holds a BBB A+ with accreditation since 2019 and zero complaints on file. It also carries Texas roofing license 03-0484 through the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, which counts for something in a state that doesn’t require one. Reviews sit at 4.8 stars across 562 on Google, per Birdeye.
The other reason is the inspection. Every job starts with a free ArkCertified inspection. A tech walks the ground, the roof and the attic, takes more than 100 photos plus video, and sends a live-link report the homeowner keeps whether or not they hire Ark. That same report goes to the insurance adjuster, which is why so many reviews mention claims. Ark documents the damage and meets the adjuster on the roof. It doesn’t file the claim for you or act as a public adjuster, and it says so up front.
Scope is the widest of the five. Owens Corning Duration shingles, standing seam and R-panel metal, F-Wave and Brava synthetic slate and shake, barrel tile, commercial TPO and modified bitumen, seamless gutters, James Hardie siding, exterior painting, attic ventilation and solar attic fans, and VELUX skylights. Platinum status also means the Owens Corning Platinum Protection warranty, which covers materials and labor for up to 50 years, and Ark registers it for you.
“I cannot remember the last time I ever had a zero, and I mean zero pressure visit related to some sort of home repair or inspection.” Timmy B., Google
If you want the cleanest complaint record and the top manufacturer tier, this is it.
Strengths
- A combination no one else on this list has: top manufacturer tier, a clean BBB file since 2019, and a Texas roofing license
- Free ArkCertified inspection with more than 100 photos plus video, and a live-link report you keep
- Widest scope of the five, from commercial TPO to VELUX skylights and James Hardie siding
Keep in mind
- Youngest company on this list, and two of the roofers below have more Google reviews
- If you want a contractor with 40 years of Austin history, keep reading
Kidd Roofing
Best for: Commercial, multifamily, and large or complex roofs
Austin (East Anderson Lane). Serves the Austin metro, plus Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
Kidd is the biggest operation on this list, and the resume shows it. Forty-four years in business. GAF Master Elite with President’s Club honors, a step above Master Elite on its own. A BBB A+ with accreditation since 2007. And 838 Google reviews at 4.9 stars. The company also lists membership in the National Roofing Contractors Association and a spot on Roofing Contractor magazine’s Top 100.
Where Kidd pulls away from the pack is commercial and complex work. Multifamily, new construction, single-ply and modified bitumen flat roofs, roof coatings, tile, metal, even solar shingles. If you manage an HOA, a condo complex, or a church with a flat section and a pitched section, this is the first call. The company also says it is a preferred contractor for USAA, Farmers and Amica, which can smooth a claim if you carry one of those policies.
“Professional team. Quality workmanship. Friendly and easy to work with. Highly recommend them.” Clay B., BBB, April 2026
Five BBB complaints in the past three years is not shocking for a company doing this much volume across several states, but it is the reason Kidd sits at number two.
Strengths
- Biggest operation on this list, 44 years in business, with a spot on Roofing Contractor magazine's Top 100
- 838 Google reviews at 4.9 stars
- The first call for an HOA, a condo complex, or a church with a flat section and a pitched section
Keep in mind
- Five BBB complaints in three years, all answered or resolved. The thread is warranty follow-up and leak callbacks, not pricing. It is why Kidd sits at two, not one
- Ask who handles warranty calls, and how fast, before you sign
KangaRoof
Best for: Residential replacements with fixed pricing
Round Rock (Sam Bass Road). Serves Round Rock, Austin, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander, Pflugerville, Hutto, Kyle, Buda and San Marcos. Roofing since 2000, with roots the company dates to 1992.
The Feller family ran this shop as Feller Roofing for years before the 2017 rename, and it is still family-run today. Don’t let the playful name fool you. KangaRoof carries more certifications than anyone else here: GAF Master Elite with President’s Club honors, an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor listing, and RCAT license 03-0398, posted on its site. It has 842 Google reviews at 4.8 stars, neck and neck with Kidd for the most on this list, and a BBB A+ with zero complaints.
The focus is residential and predictable, which is a compliment. Shingle and metal replacements, storm repair, gutters, and, unusually for a roofer, garage doors. It advertises guaranteed pricing and free inspections, offers financing, and works the insurance paperwork with you.
“They did a great job on my roof repair. The price was great and they were quick to complete the job.” Don A., Yelp, April 2026
KangaRoof is also Ark’s closest neighbor on this list, working the same Williamson County streets. So yes, this guide is recommending a direct competitor. They earned the spot.
Strengths
- More certifications than anyone else here: GAF Master Elite with President's Club, Owens Corning Preferred, and an RCAT license
- 842 Google reviews at 4.8, neck and neck with Kidd for the most on this list
- Guaranteed pricing, free inspections, financing, and help with the insurance paperwork
Keep in mind
- BBB accreditation is recent, December 2024, and Yelp is a softer 4.0 across 96 reviews
- No commercial division to speak of, so a flat-roof strip center should look elsewhere
Good News Roofing & Solar
Best for: Solar, flat roofs, and the south metro
Kyle (West Center Street). Serves greater Austin, Buda, San Marcos, Dripping Springs and New Braunfels, and north to Round Rock and Georgetown. Roofing since 2009, per the company.
A perfect 5.0 across 630 Google reviews, verified on Birdeye, is hard to argue with. So is a BBB A+ with accreditation back to 2010 and a single complaint in three years, since resolved. Good News is the south-metro anchor of this list. It is based in Kyle and does most of its work in Hays County. If you live south of the river and want a crew that already knows the way to your street, this is the call.
It is also the only company here with a real solar arm. Panels and the roof under them from one contractor, which heads off the usual finger-pointing when a solar installer’s mounting bolts leak through somebody else’s shingles. The rest of the menu is wide: shingle, metal, tile, slate, flat TPO and EPDM, gutters and guards, fencing, insurance claim help, free inspections, and advertised 0% financing.
“Rudy was great to work with and very helpful. Kept us informed every step of the way.” Jordan T., Google
Good News says it is the only Atlas Diamond Level contractor based near Austin. That is Atlas’s top tier, but unlike the GAF and Owens Corning tiers on this page, we couldn’t confirm it on a manufacturer directory.
Strengths
- A perfect 5.0 across 630 Google reviews, verified on Birdeye
- The only company here with a real solar arm. Panels and the roof under them from one contractor
- Based in Kyle, so shorter drives and faster callbacks south of the river
Keep in mind
- The Atlas Diamond claim couldn't be confirmed on a manufacturer directory, so take it as the company's claim
- Yelp is thin at 17 reviews, and the founding year is fuzzy: the website says 2009, BBB says 1997
Wilson Roofing
Best for: A long-tenure family shop in west and central Austin
West Austin (Commons Ford Road). Serves Austin and Central Texas, including Round Rock and Georgetown.
Fifty years. Wilson has been putting roofs on Austin houses since 1976 and has held BBB accreditation since 1981, a year before Kidd Roofing opened its doors. It is a family business and was a finalist for the Austin Business Journal’s Family Business of the Year in 2019. It holds GAF Master Elite with President’s Club honors, a status the company says it has kept for more than 20 years.
That tenure matters in a specific way. A crew that has worked through the 1993, 2005, 2009 and 2023 hail storms has seen most of what an Austin roof can do wrong. The work covers residential, commercial and new construction, in shingle, metal, tile and flat, with insurance claim help and financing.
“Excellent work, competitive pricing, and outstanding clean up. Highly recommended.” Craig M., Yelp, March 2026
Wilson is here for the track record. If recent reviews weigh more with you than history, KangaRoof or Good News may be the better fit.
Strengths
- Fifty years of Austin roofs, and BBB accreditation since 1981, a year before Kidd opened
- A crew that has worked through the 1993, 2005, 2009 and 2023 hail storms
- Master Elite with President's Club, kept for more than 20 years by the company's count
Keep in mind
- The review numbers are good, not great. Google 4.7 across 307, and Yelp 3.5 across 98, the lowest on this page
- One BBB complaint in three years, filed July 2026 over water intrusion after a repair, resolved with a refund
Which one fits your situation
Rankings are one thing. The right call depends on your roof, your zip code and what went wrong. Here is the short version.
| Your situation | Start with | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Hail hit, insurance claim ahead, home in Williamson or north Travis County | Ark Roofer, then KangaRoof | Both live in the county, both document for adjusters, both carry zero BBB complaints |
| Roof plus siding, paint, gutters or attic ventilation on the same job | Ark Roofer | The only one of the five doing James Hardie siding and exterior painting in-house |
| Commercial, multifamily, HOA, church or anything with a flat section | Kidd Roofing | Single-ply, modified bitumen, coatings and 44 years of commercial work |
| You want a fixed price and a residential-only crew | KangaRoof | Advertises guaranteed pricing; no commercial division pulling crews away |
| Solar panels and a new roof at the same time | Good News Roofing & Solar | The only company here that installs both |
| South Austin, Buda, Kyle, San Marcos or New Braunfels | Good News Roofing & Solar | Based in Kyle, so shorter drives and faster callbacks |
| West or central Austin and you value a 50-year track record over review counts | Wilson Roofing | Family business since 1976, BBB-accredited since 1981 |
| Standing seam metal | Ark Roofer, Kidd or KangaRoof | All three install it; ask each for two local addresses you can drive past |
Whatever you pick, get two bids. A good roofer expects it.

Book an Austin inspectionHow to vet any Austin roofer, including these five
The Texas Department of Insurance and the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas publish nearly the same checklist. Boiled down, it is seven questions. Ask them of anyone who wants to touch your roof, us included.
- Where’s your office? A street address in Central Texas, not a P.O. box and not a truck. TDI’s advice after a storm is blunt: work with a local company.
- Can I see your insurance? General liability and workers’ comp, on paper, with the dates. If a crew member falls off your roof and the roofer isn’t covered, you may be.
- Do you hold an RCAT license? Texas doesn’t require one, which is exactly why a voluntary one means something. It takes exams in roofing, business and safety, proof of insurance, and yearly continuing education.
- Will you put the whole scope in writing? Materials by brand and product name, tear-off, decking, underlayment, flashing, ventilation, cleanup, price, and the warranty terms for both the shingles and the labor. Blank lines in a contract are a no.
- How much do you want up front? TDI says never pay in full before the work is done. A deposit is normal. All of it is not.
- Are you offering to cover my deductible? If the answer is yes, hang up. Since September 1, 2019, it has been a Class B misdemeanor in Texas for a contractor to waive or rebate an insurance deductible. Your insurer can also withhold the replacement-cost holdback until you show proof you paid it.
- Can I have three addresses from the last year? Then drive past them. Roofs are the one purchase where you can inspect the seller’s work from the street.
And one tell that needs no question. If someone knocks on your door the week after a storm and says they “happen to be in the neighborhood,” they happen to be in the neighborhood because of the storm. Out-of-state plates, a push to sign today, and a request for cash are the rest of the pattern.
