The 5 Best Roofing Companies in Dripping Springs, TX (2026 Guide)

The short answer

Our top five roofing companies for Dripping Springs in 2026 are Ark Roofer, Good News Roofing & Solar, Driftwood Builders Roofing, Transcendent Roofing and Wilson Roofing. We started with more than 40 companies serving the 78620 and ranked them on the same public record: BBB files, Google reviews, manufacturer certifications and years in business. Every figure was checked on September 24, 2026.

On the evening of May 9, 2024, hail the size of softballs came down west of Dripping Springs. Reports that night put stones at 4.2 inches out past town. Over in Johnson City, one measured better than six inches, among the largest ever recorded in Texas. Hays County signed a disaster declaration the next day. One hail-mapping firm counted about 3,850 Dripping Springs properties inside the 1-inch swath, and more than 1,400 inside the 2.5-inch core.

If you lived out here then, you remember the sound.

Here is the part nobody talks about. Dripping Springs got lucky after that. Weather service storm reports show no 1-inch hail within ten miles of town in 2025, and none so far in 2026. Meanwhile Texas led the country in major hail events for the 11th straight year, and State Farm alone paid $1.4 billion in Texas hail claims last year. The storms didn’t stop. They hit Kyle and San Marcos instead of us. Luck is not a roofing plan.

There is also a lot more roof out here than there used to be. Dripping Springs had 1,788 people in the 2010 census. The Census Bureau’s 2025 estimate is 11,167. Belterra, Headwaters, Caliterra, Highpointe: whole neighborhoods went up in about the time it takes a builder-grade shingle to wear out in this heat. A lot of those first roofs are coming due together.

So you need a roofer, and this is where it gets tricky. Texas doesn’t license roofing contractors. Anyone with a truck and a magnet sign can call themselves one, and after a big storm, plenty do. Some of them are excellent. Some will be gone before your first leak.

One thing to say plainly before the list. You are reading this on Ark Roofer’s website, and yes, we put ourselves first. We think the numbers back that up, and you will see every one of them. But we also went looking for the other Dripping Springs roofers we would trust with our neighbors’ homes. We ranked everyone on the same public record: Better Business Bureau files, Google reviews, manufacturer certifications and years in business. Where a company beats us on something, we say so.

BBB complaints are the three-year count, as the Bureau reports them. Google ratings and review counts come from each company’s Business Profile on September 24, 2026. Expect them to drift a little by the time you read this.

How we ranked them

We started with every roofer we could find that serves the 78620 zip code. That came to more than 40 companies, once you count the Austin outfits with a Dripping Springs service page. Then we scored them on five things you can check yourself.

  1. Complaint record. We pulled each company's Better Business Bureau file and counted complaints over the last three years. One complaint that got resolved is normal for a business doing hundreds of roofs. Three or four in a year is a pattern, and it cost a couple of well-known names their spot.
  2. Manufacturer certification, and which tier. Shingle makers vet contractors before they hand out their top badges. GAF says only about 2 percent of roofers qualify for Master Elite. Platinum Preferred is the highest level Owens Corning offers. Those tiers also come with the longest warranties. That is the part that matters to you.
  3. Google reviews, volume and rating together. Five hundred reviews at 4.9 stars tells you more than twenty reviews at 5.0. We pulled the live counts from Google, not from the numbers on each company's homepage.
  4. Time in business. Roofing companies come and go, especially after storms. We used the founding date on file with the BBB and how long the company has been accredited.
  5. Do they actually work Dripping Springs? We looked for a Dripping Springs page that names real neighborhoods, a Chamber of Commerce membership, or a shop within a 30-minute drive. One company on this list is a partial exception. We say so in its profile.

What we didn’t count: paid “best of” badges, Instagram followers, or how nice the truck wrap looks.

Ark Roofer

That's us
4.9(515 Google reviews)Georgetown (serves Dripping Springs)Est. 20183555 W State Hwy 29512-948-1638

Best for: Hail claims and full replacements in Belterra, Headwaters, Caliterra and Highpointe

We will keep the sales pitch short, because the table already did most of the work.

Ark is the only company on this list that checks every box at once. Top-tier manufacturer status. A spotless BBB file. The voluntary state license. More than 500 Google reviews. Nobody else here has all four. That is the whole case for the number one spot, and you can check each piece in about ten minutes.

Here is what that looks like on your roof. Ark’s crews install Owens Corning Duration shingles, plus standing-seam and R-panel metal. For homes that want the slate or shake look without the weight, they install F-Wave and Brava synthetics. Platinum Preferred status means Ark can offer Owens Corning’s top warranty, the one that covers the labor as well as the shingles. The RCAT license is Texas’s only roofing license. It is voluntary, so a company has to go get it on purpose.

After a hailstorm, what most Dripping Springs homeowners need first is a straight answer: do I have a claim or not? Every Ark job starts with an ArkCertified inspection. Roof, attic and exterior, 100-plus photos, report in your hands before anyone talks about work. If the damage is real, Ark meets your adjuster on the roof with that report. If it isn’t, you get told so. The team also handles gutters, James Hardie siding, attic ventilation and radiant barrier. That matters when a hail claim turns into a whole-exterior project.

“Brian is professional and friendly, quickly able to schedule and complete inspection. It’s an easy, no pressure process.” Danna H., Google review

What you get is a 25-person company that has been running Dripping Springs jobs since 2018 with a complaint record that is still blank.

Strengths

  • The only company here that checks every box at once: top manufacturer tier, spotless BBB file, the voluntary state license, and more than 500 Google reviews
  • ArkCertified inspection with 100-plus photos and a report in your hands before anyone talks about work
  • Gutters, James Hardie siding, attic ventilation and radiant barrier when a hail claim turns into a whole-exterior project

Keep in mind

  • Youngest company on this list, and the home office is in Georgetown, about 45 minutes up the road
  • If you want a roofer whose truck lives on Mercer Street, that is not us
  • Owens Corning Platinum Preferred
  • RCAT license 03-0484
  • Hail and wind claims
  • F-Wave and Brava synthetics
  • Standing seam and R-panel metal

Good News Roofing & Solar

5.0(587 Google reviews)KyleEst. 2009802 W Center Stwww.goodnewsroofing.com

Best for: A Hays County neighbor, and roof plus solar on one contract

If you would rather hire a Hays County company than an Austin one, this is the strongest option on the list. Good News is run by a father-daughter team, Stephen and Jordan. Their shop is on West Center Street in Kyle, about 30 minutes east of Dripping Springs on FM 150. Their site says 3,000-plus completed projects, and the Google count backs that up: 587 reviews, 584 of them five stars. That is the highest rating and the biggest review count of anyone here, including us.

The Atlas badge needs a word of explanation. Atlas isn’t a household name like GAF or Owens Corning. Diamond is the top tier Atlas hands out, though. Good News says it is the only contractor at that level based near Austin. In practice it means factory-backed warranties on Atlas shingles, including the impact-rated ones insurers now ask about.

Good News does more than shingles. They install metal, tile, slate and flat commercial systems, and they are one of the few roofers around here that will put solar on the same contract as the roof. Gutters too. They advertise 0% financing, and they have a Dripping Springs page with reviews from actual Dripping Springs addresses.

“Good News Roofing replaced our roof after a hailstorm, and the process was seamless.” Jessica T., Dripping Springs

We would call the one BBB complaint a fair test passed.

Strengths

  • Highest rating and biggest review count of anyone here, 587 Google reviews, 584 of them five stars
  • One of the few roofers around that will put solar on the same contract as the roof
  • A Dripping Springs page with reviews from actual Dripping Springs addresses

Keep in mind

  • One BBB complaint on file, from October 2024, a metal roof install that took months to get right during the post-hail rush. Good News finished the fix and the customer signed off. It is why they sit at two instead of one
  • Atlas isn't a household name like GAF or Owens Corning, though Diamond is its top tier
  • Atlas Diamond
  • Solar
  • Metal, tile, slate and flat
  • 0% financing
  • Family run

Driftwood Builders Roofing

5.0(259 Google reviews)ManchacaEst. 2005driftwoodbuildersroofing.com

Best for: The longest workmanship warranty here (25 years), and no deposit

First, a clarification, because the name trips people up. Driftwood Builders is based in Manchaca, off FM 1626, not in the Driftwood that sits ten minutes down RR 12 from you. It is about a 30-minute drive either way.

What earns them the third spot is a warranty nobody else on this list matches. Driftwood Builders backs its work with a 25-year workmanship guarantee. Most roofers offer somewhere between one and ten years on labor, and the manufacturer covers the shingles. Twenty-five years on the install itself is a real commitment from a company that has already been around for twenty. They also don’t take a deposit. You pay when the roof is done.

The credentials hold up. GAF Master Elite is the top tier from the largest shingle maker in North America. Driftwood Builders is also in the James Hardie Contractor Alliance for siding. The BBB file goes back to 2009 with zero complaints. The Google rating is a flat 5.0 across 259 reviews. Their Dripping Springs page says they have done 57 replacement and repair jobs out here, and it names Caliterra and Belterra.

Materials run the usual Hill Country menu. Class 4 impact-rated shingles, standing-seam metal, tile repair, and TPO for flat sections. They handle gutters, siding, skylights and windows too. That is handy after a storm chews up more than the roof.

“My roof has held up much better than my neighbors’. They have come out to inspect it a couple of times since and didn’t use it as an opportunity to make more money.” Keith C., Austin

Strengths

  • 25-year workmanship guarantee. Most roofers offer one to ten years on labor
  • No deposit. You pay when the roof is done
  • BBB file back to 2009 with zero complaints, and a flat 5.0 across 259 reviews

Keep in mind

  • A smaller shop. The review count is about half of Ark's or Good News's, and they don't hold the RCAT license
  • Fifty-seven Dripping Springs jobs over twenty years means they aren't out here every week. Based in Manchaca, not the Driftwood down RR 12
  • GAF Master Elite
  • 25-year workmanship guarantee
  • No deposit
  • James Hardie Contractor Alliance
4

Transcendent Roofing

4.8(83 Google reviews)AustinEst. 2017transcendentroofing.com/dripping-springs/roof-repair

Best for: Commercial and flat roofs, tile work, and a Master Elite contractor close to town

Transcendent is the other company here with both a top manufacturer tier and the RCAT license. It also has the deepest roots on this side of town. GAF’s directory lists them in the 78737 zip code, the Belterra side of Dripping Springs. They belong to the Dripping Springs Chamber of Commerce. And their website has separate pages for Dripping Springs roof repair and storm damage, not one generic “we serve everywhere” list.

Owner Brad Ridenhour started the company in July 2017. Nine years later the BBB file is clean: A+, accredited since 2018, no complaints. That matters more for a younger company than an old one, because the first few storm seasons are where most roofers pick up their complaints.

Where Transcendent stands apart is the commercial side. Plenty of residential roofers say they do flat roofs. Transcendent actually lists TPO, modified bitumen, and clay, concrete and slate tile next to the shingle and standing-seam work. They handle homes and commercial buildings both. If you own a shop on Mercer Street or a barn-style venue out on Fitzhugh Road, that range is worth something. They offer financing through Hearth and free inspections. At the end of the job they fly a drone over the finished roof so you can see it without climbing a ladder.

“Will came out promptly and inspected my roof at no charge.” Google review

GAF’s extended warranties are available through them, since they are Master Elite.

Strengths

  • The other company here with both a top manufacturer tier and the RCAT license
  • GAF lists them in the 78737 zip code, the Belterra side of Dripping Springs
  • Flies a drone over the finished roof so you can see it without climbing a ladder

Keep in mind

  • 83 Google reviews is the smallest count on this list. Four are one-star, so read the recent ones
  • Public office address is downtown Austin on Lavaca Street, with a second location in San Antonio. Standard labor warranty is shorter than Driftwood Builders offers
  • GAF Master Elite
  • RCAT licensed
  • TPO and modified bitumen
  • Clay, concrete and slate tile
  • Dripping Springs Chamber member
5

Wilson Roofing

4.7(308 Google reviews)West AustinEst. 1976217-A S Commons Ford Rdwilsonroofing.com

Best for: Metal roofs, tile, custom flashing, and the longest track record in Central Texas

Wilson Roofing has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since September 1981. Read that again. Belterra didn’t exist. Neither did a good share of the people reading this. Ralph Wilson started the company in 1976, his family still owns it, and Taylor Wilson has run it since 2018 with a staff of around 50. Their site claims more than 105,000 roofs over those fifty years.

The reason to call Wilson is metal. They run their own 13,000-square-foot sheet-metal shop. Custom flashing, valleys, chimney saddles and standing-seam panels get made in-house instead of ordered and hoped for. A lot of new builds out here pair a metal porch roof with a shingle main. That joint is where cheap roofs leak in year three, and it is where a real metal shop earns its keep. Wilson also does tile, flat commercial systems and new construction. They carry GAF’s Master Elite badge with President’s Club honors on top.

Wilson’s shop is on Commons Ford Road off Bee Cave Road, about 35 minutes from downtown Dripping Springs.

“Hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had with a home contractor.” Justin W., Austin

This is the partial exception we mentioned. Wilson’s website lists Austin, Round Rock and Georgetown as service areas. It doesn’t name Dripping Springs, so call first and confirm they will come out. That, and the highest share of one-star reviews on the list, is why the oldest company sits at five.

Strengths

  • BBB accredited since September 1981. Belterra didn't exist
  • Their own 13,000-square-foot sheet-metal shop makes custom flashing, valleys and standing-seam panels in-house
  • Claims more than 105,000 roofs over fifty years

Keep in mind

  • Website lists Austin, Round Rock and Georgetown as service areas, not Dripping Springs. Call first and confirm they will come out
  • One BBB complaint from July 2026, an incomplete first visit that let water in. Wilson admitted it in writing, refunded $1,236 and finished under warranty. Still, 13 one-star reviews out of 308 is the highest share here
  • GAF Master Elite, President's Club
  • In-house sheet-metal shop
  • Tile and flat commercial
  • Family owned since 1976

Which one fits your situation

Rankings are tidy. Roofs aren’t. Here is how we would match the five to the calls we actually get from Dripping Springs.

Your situationStart withWhy

One more honest note. Any of these five will do a good roof. The differences are in warranty length, distance, and what they specialize in. Get two bids, ask the questions in the next section, and pick the one that answers them without flinching.

How to vet any roofer in Dripping Springs

Start with the uncomfortable fact: Texas does not license roofing contractors. The state licenses your barber and your electrician, but not the person tearing the roof off a $700,000 house. A bill to change that (HB 3344) made it out of committee in the 2025 session and died without a House vote. A 2019 version lost 99 to 33 on the House floor. So for now, the checking is on you. Here is the ten-minute version.

  1. Ask for their RCAT license number. The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas runs the state’s only roofing license, and it is voluntary. To get it a company needs two years in business, three passed exams, $300,000 in liability coverage and workers’ comp. Look the number up at rcat.net. Two companies on this list hold it (Ark Roofer and Transcendent). Not having one isn’t disqualifying. Lying about having one is.
  2. Read past the letter grade on the BBB file. Click into the complaints tab. What you want to see is either nothing, or a problem the company answered and fixed. What you don’t want is a pattern: three complaints about the same thing in a year.
  3. Sort the Google reviews by newest. A 4.9 built in 2019 tells you about the 2019 crew. Read the last six months.
  4. Check the certification claim at the source. GAF and Owens Corning both have public contractor directories. If a website says Master Elite or Platinum Preferred and the directory doesn’t, that is your answer.
  5. Walk away from anyone who offers to “eat” your deductible. Since September 1, 2019, it has been a Class B misdemeanor in Texas for a contractor to pay, waive or absorb your deductible. Any insurance-funded contract over $1,000 must carry a bold notice saying you owe it. Your insurer can also ask for proof you paid it. A roofer who offers this is telling you how they handle everything else.
  6. Same for anyone who promises to “negotiate” your claim. Texas law bars roofers from acting as public adjusters on jobs they are doing, and the Texas Supreme Court upheld that in 2024. A good roofer documents the damage and meets your adjuster. The negotiating, if it comes to that, is you, a licensed public adjuster or a lawyer.
  7. Get insurance certificates sent from the agent, not the roofer. General liability and workers’ comp, current dates, your address on the certificate. Ten minutes on the phone. If a worker falls off your roof and the company isn’t covered, you are the deep pocket.
  8. Ask who is pulling the permit and handling the HOA. Inside the city limits, roofing is a permit type in the city’s portal. One call to the Building Department (512-858-4725) tells you whether your re-roof needs one. Out in the county there is no re-roof permit and no county inspection. That means your contractor’s own quality control is the only inspection your roof gets. Most master-planned neighborhoods out here also want approval for a color or material change. A roofer who has worked Belterra before knows the form.
  9. Know your three days. If you signed the contract at your kitchen table, Texas gives you until midnight of the third business day to cancel in writing, no reason needed.

The storm-chaser tells haven’t changed in twenty years: out-of-state plates, a P.O. box instead of a shop, a website that went live last spring, and a contract they need signed today. Anyone on the list above will still be here next hail season. That is most of what you are paying for.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a new roof cost in Dripping Springs?
Angi's Austin-area figure, updated July 2026, is an average of $10,295, with asphalt jobs running $8,000 to $12,000 and metal $14,000 to $22,000. Per square foot installed, architectural shingles run about $4.75 to $7.75 in this market and standing-seam metal about $9 to $15.50. Dripping Springs houses are bigger than the Austin average, so plan on the high end of those ranges. Get the bid in writing with the shingle line, the underlayment and the ventilation spelled out.
When is hail season in Dripping Springs?
Spring into early summer, and May is the month that hurts. The last big local hit was May 9, 2024. Since then Dripping Springs has been quiet: no 1-inch hail reports within ten miles of town in 2025 or so far in 2026. Don't read too much into that. Texas led the country in major hail events again in 2025, with 902 of them, and the storms landed on the east side of Hays County instead.
Does Texas license roofing contractors?
No. Texas has no state roofing license. The Roofing Contractors Association of Texas offers a voluntary one that takes exams, insurance and two years in business. A licensing bill made it out of committee in 2025 and never got a House vote. Ask for the RCAT number and check it yourself.
Will my homeowners insurance cover hail damage?
Usually, for sudden storm damage. But the details have changed. Most Texas policies now carry a percentage wind and hail deductible, and 2 percent of your dwelling coverage is the common number. On a $600,000 house that is $12,000 out of pocket before the insurer pays a dime. A 2026 review of Texas filings found 82 percent of carriers use actual-cash-value roof schedules, which shrink the payout on older roofs. It found 57 percent include cosmetic-damage exclusions. Call your agent before the storm and ask which of those you have.
How long does a roof last in the Hill Country heat?
Less than the box says. Local roofers put architectural shingles at 18 to 24 years here versus 25 to 30 in milder climates, and 3-tab at 12 to 16. Class 4 impact-rated shingles run 22 to 28. Standing-seam metal goes 40 to 60. Attic ventilation is the quiet variable: a hot, unvented attic can take four to eight years off a shingle roof. 2023 was Austin's hottest year on record, with 45 straight days over 100 degrees, and every roof out here aged faster that summer.
Do I need a permit to replace my roof?
Inside the city limits, roofing is a permit type in the city's online portal. One call to the Building Department (512-858-4725) will tell you whether your job needs one. In unincorporated Hays County there is no re-roof permit and no county inspection. Either way, ask your HOA about color approval before you pick shingles.
Is a metal roof worth it in Dripping Springs?
Often, yes. Standing seam lasts two to three times as long as shingles and carries a Class A fire rating. That matters in wildfire country, where Texas A&M Forest Service says embers travel one to two miles. A light-colored finish also stays much cooler than dark shingles in August. It also costs roughly double per square foot. One catch: if your policy has a cosmetic-damage exclusion, hail dents that don't cause leaks usually aren't covered. Check that before you buy.
Is Ark Roofer actually local to Dripping Springs?
Our office is in Georgetown. We have been working Dripping Springs since 2018, in master-planned neighborhoods like Belterra, Headwaters, Caliterra and Highpointe and on ranch properties farther out. If you want to check, ask us for addresses of recent jobs near you. We will give them.
