How Owens Corning Grades Its Platinum Roofers, and How Ark Scored

A new roof is a big purchase, and the finished shingles only tell part of the story. Did the crew protect the property? Did the schedule make sense? Did someone explain what would happen next?

Owens Corning uses homeowner feedback collected by GuildQuality to help evaluate the experience its independent network contractors deliver. Here is how that process works, what Ark’s report says, and how to use this kind of feedback when choosing a roofer.

How Ark Roofer Scored

The report summarized here includes five verified homeowner surveys. The scores use a five-point scale. We have included every category so you can see the full picture.

Each bar runs from 0 to 5. Source: Ark Roofer’s Owens Corning / GuildQuality report, covering five verified homeowner surveys. This is a report snapshot, not Ark’s live overall GuildQuality rating.

What the Communication Score Tells Us

Communication was our lowest category at 4.60 out of 5. A roof can look good at the end while a homeowner still wishes they had received a clearer update along the way. This category gives us a specific part of the experience to examine: how clearly we explain the work, the timing, and any changes.

The average alone does not tell us which conversation fell short. It gives us a reason to look at the individual feedback and ask better questions.

What Five Surveys Can Tell You

Five responses are a small sample. In a category with five equally weighted answers, changing one rating from 5 to 4 lowers the average by 0.20. A perfect score in that sample is encouraging, but it does not establish how every future project will go.

These numbers describe the report covered in this article. They are not a live feed or a summary of every review Ark has received. For a broader view, read Ark’s public GuildQuality profile and our homeowner reviews.

The report also includes network benchmark markers. Because the exact network averages are not supplied as numbers in the source report, we have left them out of the table. We are not assigning a national rank or turning estimated chart positions into precise comparisons.

How Owens Corning Checks on Its Roofers

Owens Corning manufactures roofing products. Independent contractors install them. Homeowner surveys give the manufacturer and those contractors feedback about the experience after the work is done.

GuildQuality explains its Owens Corning partnership this way: when a network contractor registers a customer’s warranty, GuildQuality contacts that customer with a short survey. GuildQuality collects the responses as a third party.

  1. Warranty Registered

The contractor registers the homeowner’s Owens Corning warranty.

  2. Homeowner Surveyed

GuildQuality contacts the homeowner for feedback on the job.

  3. Results Reviewed

The feedback helps Owens Corning and the roofer see what went well and where to improve.

The six categories in Ark’s report cover value, recommendation, the job site, workmanship, scheduling, and communication. Together, they help reveal whether homeowners felt informed and cared for throughout a project.

A homeowner survey measures the customer’s experience. It does not replace a roof inspection, a written scope of work, or the terms of a warranty. Those are separate things to review before signing a contract.

What a Homeowner Said

“I did recommend them to a friend and they were very satisfied with their experience with Ark Roofer.”

For this homeowner, the recommendation had already happened. The comment gives a concrete example of what the survey’s “likely to recommend” category is trying to capture.

How to Check a Roofer’s Record

Use these checks with any roofing company you are considering, Ark included:

  1. Verify the manufacturer credential. Search the Owens Corning contractor locator by ZIP code and look for the company’s current designation. Check the listing itself rather than relying only on a logo in an advertisement.
  2. Ask for the complete report. If the contractor participates in homeowner surveying, ask to see all the categories, the report period, and the number of responses. A single highlighted score leaves out useful context.
  3. Read the comments alongside the averages. Look for specific experiences with scheduling, cleanup, communication, and follow-through. Compare recent feedback with older reviews.
  4. Ask about the lowest score. Find out what the contractor learned and whether anything changed. A clear answer tells you more than a promise that every job is perfect.
  5. Review the job details in writing. Confirm the materials, property protection, payment schedule, cleanup, and warranty. Ask who you will contact if the weather changes the schedule or a question comes up.
